A man, in the sense that he is over 18 years of age, only by one year, but a man nonetheless, is sitting in an airplane, a 747 owned by the airline company of JetBlue. He is silent and does nothing but stare out of his window. He’s lucky today; it’s very cloudy out and, despite the turbulence it causes, he can take solace in the beauty of the pure white cumulonimbus clouds that surround the plane. He does not use the nine hours to abuse the free movies generously provided by JetBlue, nor is he reading an interesting book, nor is he playing some sort of hand-held gaming device. Instead he just stares. There is a girl sitting next to him, and she is beautiful. He dares not to talk to her, and as he stood in line, waiting for his seat assignment, he prayed that she would not be seated next to him, but she was. She occasionally looks at him, surveying his face for some kind of emotion, but he promises to show none, to her at least.

After some time he has to use the bathroom. He attempts to hold his urine in for as long as he can but eventually it becomes painful. In the moment when his bladder must be evacuated he is forced to turn to the girl and, through nothing but a grunt and a nod of his head, express to her that he must go to the on flight bathrooms to take a piss. She is quick to understand and good about it, using her small stature to curl her legs up into her body, allowing him free reign to pass. He hates these moments, which only get worse when he makes it to the bathroom, as he wishes nothing more than to take solace there, to just sit there and cry, but he cannot: one, because other people need to use the lavatory, and two, because people can probably hear him crying and are probably condemning him for it. He must then leave after only about 30 seconds, a minute if he is really pushing it, and return to his seat, where he just stands in the aisle until the girl realizes his presence, looks up at him--which he quickly averts--and then curls her legs into her body. He sits down, refastens his seat belt, and continues to stare out of the window. He is upset because he knows that in only one hour, the sun will be going down. What will he look at when the sky turns dark?
